Mobile Defeats Dillard Tuesday Night in New Orleans

Rams Earn Impressive Win Over Bleu Devils Tuesday Evening on the Road

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Coming off a loss in their last outing at home to Louisiana Christian, the University of Mobile Men's Basketball returned to the road on Tuesday, Nov. 16 for an non-conference game against Dillard University in New Orleans, La. Mobile looked to get back into the win column as both teams entered Tuesday's game with a loss in the previous outings. After a close first half and a back-and-forth second half, Mobile managed to come out on top against the Bleu Devils with a 68-66 victory and advance their overall record to 4-3 on the season. With the win, Mobile has now won four of their last five games as conference play begins later this week.

The Rams shot 44% from the floor in the win on Tuesday and did not trail in the game until 13 minutes left in the second half. From there, Mobile regained the lead and held it until just five minutes left on the clock where Dillard took the lead back. From there, both teams traded field goals in the final minutes, with Mobile hitting the go-ahead jumper with 14 seconds left on the clock to win it.

Sage McKenna recorded his best game to date in his first year with Mobile, finishing with a team-high 23 points in the win. McKenna was responsible for the go-ahead shot in the closing seconds to seal the win for the Rams. The sophomore out of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. shot 7-9 from the floor, including five made three-point shots. McKenna also went 4-5 from the free-throw line as he was the only Ram to record double-digit point totals in the victory on Tuesday.

Joshua Williams got the start on Tuesday, just his second start on the year as he entered Tuesday's game averaging 15 points per game from off the bench. Williams led the team with five rebounds and seven assists in the win as he and Logan Foutz finished with eight points each, second most on the team for Mobile.

Defensively, the Rams forced 18 Dillard turnovers and managed to score 22 points off those turnovers. Mobile recorded a total of nine steals and five blocks as Mobile only committed 12 turnovers on Tuesday.

On the season, Mobile is now averaging 75.7 points per game following Tuesday's win while shooting 50.4% from the floor. The Rams are averaging just under 29 rebounds per game through their first seven games of the season.

Mobile will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 18 with an evening game against Faulkner University in Pharr Gymnasium at the University of Mobile. The matchup against Faulkner is the start of conference play for both teams as tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT.
