BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - Coming off the biggest win of the 2021-22 season over No. 11 Stillman College for the University of Mobile Men's Basketball team, the Rams traveled to Blue Mountain, Miss. on Saturday, Jan. 8 for a conference road game against Blue Mountain College. Despite having a lead for much of the first half, Blue Mountain managed to put up a seven-point deficit at halftime and eventually defeat Mobile 69-52, the second-lowest scoring game for the Rams this season.
Mobile did not score over 30 points in either half on Saturday and shot just 34% from the floor. Meanwhile, the opposition shot 44% from the floor and surpassed 30 points in both halves, including scoring 38 in the second half alone. The Rams struggled from deep and went 2-10 from the three-point line, good for just a 15% three-point percentage. In addition, Mobile made nine of 14 free-throw attempts in the game, all nine coming in the second half.
Joshua Williams once again led Mobile in offense, scoring a team-high 17 points while also grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. On the three-game week which saw the Rams finish 1-2, Williams averaged 19 points per game while recording 23 total rebounds, 17 assists, and five steals, giving him an opportunity for the SSAC's Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor.
LaDarius Knight came in from off the bench for Mobile and put up 11 points in the loss, the second-most on the team on Saturday. Knight only played 20 minutes, but was 5-8 from the floor including swishing one three-pointer. No other Ram recorded double-digit point totals.
With the loss over the weekend to Blue Mountain, Mobile drops their overall record to 6-11 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. Mobile has a busy week ahead as the Rams are scheduled to play three-straight home games.
On Tuesday, Jan. 11, Mobile will host non-conference rival Spring Hill College at 7:00 p.m. CT in Pharr Gymnasium. Mobile will then return to conference play with a 7:30 p.m. CT game on Thursday, Jan. 13 against Brewton-Parker College and a 2:00 p.m. CT game against Middle Georgia State on Saturday, Jan. 15.
