Rams Go Into Christmas Break Riding Three-Game Win Streak

Mobile Holds Off Brewton-Parker on Saturday Afternoon for Third-Straight Victory

H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM, MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team improved their overall record to 7-4 on Saturday, Dec. 17, defeating Brewton-Parker College 95-88 for the team's third-straight win. The win also improves Mobile's conference record to 3-3, while handing the Barons their sixth-straight loss on the year. In the win, Mobile saw season-highs from two players, while shooting above 60% from the floor as a unit for the second-straight game.

Rams Survive Late Comeback for Third Win in a Row

Through the first 10 minutes of Saturday afternoon's conference game in Pharr Gymnasium, Mobile and Brewton-Parker traded the lead back and forth. Mobile then managed to put together a 15-0 run halfway through the first half, and saw their lead extend to 12 points with five minutes to go in the half. Eventually, Mobile's lead sat at eight points, going into halftime leading the Barons, 43-35.

In the second half, Mobile's offense came out hot, outscoring Brewton-Parker, 26-10. However, the Barons made defensive adjustments that seemed to work in favor of Brewton-Parker and saw Mobile's 28-point lead evaporate. Struggling to finish, Mobile allowed Brewton-Parker a massive comeback late in the game as the Barons cut the deficit to single digits with three minutes remaining. Eventually, Mobile's lead shrank to just three points, but important late free throws kept the Rams out front as time ran out on Brewton-Parker. Mobile came away with a seven-point win.

The Mobile offense was carried by Ezra McKenna, who recorded a career-high 34 points in the win. McKenna notched his sixth double-double of the season, tallying a team-high 12 rebounds in the process. He added one assist and one steal. Additionally, McKenna made 15 of 18 free throw attempts, including several important ones late. McKenna is now averaging over 15 points per game, leading the Rams.

Behind McKenna's career day was Pooh Frazier, who also managed a new career-high. Frazier came away with 27 points in the win, adding six rebounds and leading Mobile with six assists. McKenna and Frazier were followed by Keon Walker who tallied nine points and led Mobile with three steals in the win.

As a team, Mobile shot over 60% from the floor in their second-straight game. The Rams finished with a 61.7% shooting line, while tallying a 73.2% free throw percentage. In two conference games in a row, Mobile has surpassed 90 points, bringing their points per game avarage to over 77 points this season.

All Smiles Ahead of Christmas

With Mobile pocketing three wins in a row, the Rams will now take a week off to celebrate the Christmas holiday with loved ones. Mobile's next scheduled game is set for Dec. 29 in Montgomery, Ala. as Mobile will face St. Thomas University as part of the SSAC v. SUN Conference Challenge. Tipoff for the SSAC v. SUN Conference Challenge in Montgomery is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT.
