Mobile Falls at No. 16 Faulkner on Saturday

Rams Drop Saturday Afternoon Game to 16th-Ranked Eagles of Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team dropped just the eighth game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 4, falling to No. 16 Faulkner, 71-55. The loss for Mobile snaps a four-game winning streak that the Rams have put together, and moves the overall record to 16-8 on the season. Meanwhile, Mobile's conference record falls to 10-6 following the 16-point defeat.

Slow Second Half Haunts Mobile

After a back and forth first half that saw Faulkner have the edge 33-32 at halftime, the Eagles recorded another solid offensive half in the second half by tallying 39 points. Mobile on the other hand, struggled in the second half, finishing the final 20 minutes with just 24 points. The Rams made just eight shots in the second half, taking 20 attempts. Overall, Mobile shot 42% from the floor in the defeat and struggled from deep with a 4-for-19 three-point line. 

Ezra McKenna had a solid game despite the loss, recording his team-high 17th double-double of the season. McKenna finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds in the loss, adding two blocks. Pooh Frazier notched 16 points on Saturday, making all four of Mobile's three-point shots, and DaMariee Jones finished the game with 10 points and five rebounds. 

Rivals Meet Again

The Rams will look to shake off the tough loss to Faulkner on Saturday and will return to action on the road next Tuesday night, Feb. 7. Mobile will face rival William Carey next Tuesday for the second and final meeting of the 2022-23 regular season, and will look to sweep the Crusaders in both games played this year. The Rams defeated the Crusaders back on Jan. 12 at home, 76-61.

Tuesday's game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. CT in Hattiesburg, Miss.
