MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball program officially released the 2024-25 season schedule on Thursday, Oct. 17, with the Rams scheduled to begin the year at home on Nov. 2 in a non-divisional game against Huntingdon College (Ala.). The team, led by sixth-year head coach Darnell Archey, put together the best season in over a decade with a 21-9 overall record last year, finishing 13-7 in the SSAC. Mobile just missed out on an automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Basketball National Tournament by one win after falling in the semifinals of the SSAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament.
The Rams' season opener against Huntingdon will be played in H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium on Nov. 2, scheduled to tip off at 4:00 p.m. CT. From there, Mobile will travel to Lakeland, Fla. for two non-conference games against tough SUN Conference opponents before returning home on Nov. 12 for a matchup against Southeastern Baptist College (Miss.). Following the game against SBC, the Rams open the conference portion of the schedule with a home contest against Loyola University (La.) on Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Mobile is set to play five SSAC games across the months of November and December before the conference schedule ramps up in January of 2025.
Overall, Mobile is scheduled for 28 regular season games during the 2024-25 season, with the regular season finale coming against Faulkner University (Ala.) at home on Feb. 22. The SSAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 26 - Mar. 1 at the Emory-Folmar YMCA Complex in downtown Montgomery, Ala.
One of the many highlights of last season came early in the year where Mobile upset NCAA D-I's South Alabama in the Jaguars' season opener. The game for Mobile counted only as an exhibition game for the Rams, but did count on the schedule for South Alabama. The win over South Alabama was Mobile's first in history. The two teams are scheduled to meet again this season, coming on Dec. 30 at the USA Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala. The game will again count as an exhibition game for the Rams.
