MARIETTA, Ga. - Coming off an overtime victory to begin conference play just two days ago, the University of Mobile Men's Basketball team continued SSAC action on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16, traveling to Life University (Ga.) in north Atlanta for a showdown featuring two ranked NAIA programs. The 24th-ranked Rams steamrolled No. 20 Life on Saturday, defeating the Running Eagles 81-49 to improve to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
Game Highlights
Mobile shot the ball well all game, making 18 of 30 shots from the floor in the first half and leading Life 46-27 at halftime. In the second half, Mobile added 13 more makes from the field, outscoring the Running Eagles 35-22 in the back 20 minutes of the contest to grab the 32-point win. Mobile finished shooting 56.4% from the floor, making eight three-pointers and finishing 11-for-14 at the free-throw line. For Life, the Running Eagles made just one three in the game and finished shooting the ball 38.5%.
Treylan Smith led Mobile's offense with 17 points, finishing 7-for-8 from the floor. Ezra McKenna followed with his sixth double-double of the season with an 11-point, 11-rebound performance, while newcomers Kaiden Francis and BJ Comer tallied 10 points each from off the bench. The Rams' defense came up with eight steals, while forcing 21 turnovers, eventually leading to 27 points off Life giveaways. Mobile also won the rebound battle, securing 34 boards to Life's 25.
In Mobile's impressive 6-0 start, the Rams are averaging 87.8 points per game off a 49% team shooting mark from the field, with two ranked wins in their pocket.
Back to Non-Conference Action
After two SSAC games this week, Mobile returns to non-conference play next Wednesday, Nov. 20, traveling to New Orleans, La. for a game against Southern University of New Orleans (La.). Wednesday's game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT.
