2024 SSAC Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team Announced; Jacob Harned Named Scholar-Athlete of the Year

SSAC Releases 2024 Barnes & Noble College Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The SSAC announced the 2024 Barnes & Noble College Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Dec. 18, highlighted by Jacob Harned of the University of Mobile Cross Country program by being named Barnes & Noble College Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Harned, a senior Accounting major posted a 3.71 GPA in the classroom during the semester, while helping guide his team to the program's first-ever SSAC Championship. On the course, he finished third at the 2024 SSAC Championship with a time of 25:47 to earn All-Conference honors. He was joined by teammate Preston Webb on this year's seven-member team.

Additional Notes

  • To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed in 50% of competitions.
  • Graduate students are not eligible, and transfers must have completed one year at the school.
  • Harned and Webb, along with Jace Luckoski, Lukas Dykes and Gavin Wheat, all earned All-Conference honors.
