Men's Basketball Knocks Off Brewton-Parker College

Rams Victorious Over Barons in Saturday Conference Showdown

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team managed an exciting 88-84 road victory over Brewton-Parker College (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 11, ending the weekend road trip with back-to-back wins in SSAC play. Mobile improves to 5-2 in the SSAC, while improving the overall record to 11-4 this season.

Game Recap / Key Performers

The Rams got off to a strong start against the Barons, tallying 46 points through the first 20 minutes and holding a lead throughout most of the half. However, Brewton-Parker mounted a spirited comeback on its home floor, outscoring Mobile in the second half. However, Mobile's clutch shooting and composure from the free-throw line preserved the lead as the Rams escaped Mount Vernon, Ga. with a four-point victory. BJ Comer and Trent Moye managed timely three-pointers in the victory, while key defensive plays, including steals by Treylan Smith and Ezra McKenna, stifled the Barons' momentum in the second half.

BJ Comer eventually led the Rams with his first double-double as a Ram, ending his day with a team-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. He added three assists and two steals. Trent Moye followed with 19 points, finishing 4-for-5 from beyond the arc for three. Ezra McKenna and Treylan Smith also put in solid performances, with both players finishing with six rebounds and three steals. McKenna recorded 12 points, while Smith finished with 11.

Overall, Mobile shot 41% from the floor in Saturday's victory, while capitalizing on a strong 14 three-pointers. The Rams converted 81.8% (18-for-22) of their free throws to maintain their lead and eventually capture the win.

Back Home for Five-Straight

Mobile is set to host conference rival William Carey (Miss.) to begin the homestand, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7:00 p.m. CT. Tuesday's game against the Crusaders is a rescheduled contest from earlier in the season.
