Rams Come Away with Important Conference Victory on Saturday in Pharr Gymnasium

Mobile Grabs SSAC Win Over Toppers

H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team secured a crucial conference victory on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 8, defeating Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) 71-64 in a competitive matchup in Pharr Gymnasium. The win keeps Mobile atop the current SSAC Men's Basketball West standings with just three regular season games remaining on the year.

Additionally, the win improves Mobile's overall record to 18-5 on the season, while the SSAC record moves to 11-3.

Strong Start and Consistency Leads to Win

Mobile set the tone early, taking a 37-32 lead at halftime over the Toppers. The Rams strong shooting, particularly from the free-throw line (19-for-21, 90.5%), proved to be a difference-maker in Saturday's matchup. Despite a resilient effort from Blue Mountain Christian, Mobile maintained control in the second half, outscoring the Toppers 34-32 to secure the win.

Ezra McKenna led the way for Mobile with an outstanding 23-point performance on an efficient 9-for-11 shooting from the floor. He also grabbed eight rebounds to finish just two boards shy of a double-double. BJ Comer contributed 16 points, dishing out three assists while hitting all five of his free throws, while Colin Howells added nine points and five rebounds.

Mobile out-rebounded Blue Mountain 34-27, with a strong defensive effort limiting their opponent to just 22.2% shooting from beyond the arc. The Rams also recorded four blocks, effectively shutting down key scoring opportunities.

Headed to NOLA

The Rams are set for a road contest next on the schedule, coming on Feb. 13 against Loyola University (La.) at 7:30 p.m. CT. Thursday's game will be played on Loyola's campus in downtown New Orleans, La.
