Softball Celebrates Senior Day During Final Regular Season Matchup

Rams Split Doubleheader with Faulkner

UM SOFTBALL FIELD | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Softball team squared off against Faulkner University on Friday afternoon as the Rams celebrated Senior Day prior to the start of the games. Mobile and Faulkner were evenly matched in both contests with the two teams unable to assert total control over the series resulting in a split. The Rams took both games in the away series earlier in the season.

Game One - Mobile 6, Faulkner 5

Faulkner would put the first run on the board with an RBI single in the third inning. Mobile followed that up with a strong fourth inning which saw both Madilyn Sheffield and Lillie Lanham hit home run bombs to take a 3-1 lead over the Eagles. For Lanham, it was the first home run of her collegiate career at Mobile. Faulkner would respond back and tie it up at 3-3 before Mobile pushed across another 3 runs in the sixth inning. The Eagles attempted a comeback in the final inning, but were unable to match the Rams, handing Mobile the victory in game one. Riley Smith earned the win for her team following her efforts from the pitching circle.

Game Two - Mobile 4, Faulkner 7

In game two between the two sides, Mobile was unable to keep up with the Faulkner offense with the Rams falling 4-7. Miah Simmons singled to center field in the first inning to bring home Gracie Mitchell for Mobile's first run of the game before Heather Knowles earned a bases loaded walk to see Madilyn Sheffield come home to score. Mobile would score two runs late on in the match, but they would not be enough as they would see game two go to their opponents. Starting pitcher, Katelynn Kempton, was given credit for the loss for Mobile.
