Women's Basketball Drop Road Game in Hattiesburg

Rams remain winless in SSAC play

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Coming off the back of a road loss to Loyola on Thursday, the Rams turned around to face conference Rivals William Carey on the road. The Mobile Women's Basketball team headed into the match still searching for it's first taste of victory in conference play, and getting a win on Saturday would be no easy task as the Crusaders sit atop the SSAC standings with a perfect 13-0 record. Despite the best efforts of the Rams, they would fall to the Crusaders on the road and drop to 0-7 in the SSAC.

Mobile started things off on competitive footing with the Crusaders as after five minutes of play, they would find themselves down by just two points. The remaining five minutes of the first quarter would not be so kind as the hosts would outscore Mobile 11-4 to see the Rams trail 13-22 as they headed into the second quarter. From here on out the momentum of the game would strongly favor the hosts who would score 20+ points in all four quarters while the Rams struggled to match their scoring. Mobile would fall 48-100 in the end with the loss coming as their heaviest all season.

Mobile's biggest struggles in the game came in the form of turnovers and fouls as the gave the ball away 21 times while fouling their opponents 29 times. The Rams would make just 5 of their 10 free throws compared to 29 of 38 for their opponents. Freshman Emilee Duet would be the only Ram to reach the double digit points mark, scoring 10 alongside 3 steals and an assist. Lamaria Jones would be Mobile's second highest scorer with 8 points while also grabbing 3 rebounds. Deja Pryor and Taylor Lee would be the only other Rams to score five or more points. Despite starting the game, both Cierra Highland and Jada Johnson each played less than 10 minutes and would be the only Rams that played to do so. As a team, Mobile shot 35.7% from the field, 23.1% from behind the arc, and just 50% from the free throw line.

Up Next for the Rams
