PULASKI, Tenn. - The University of Mobile volleyball team showed its resilience Friday night, opening with two strong sets before holding off a furious UT Southern comeback to earn a five-set victory, 25-20, 25-11, 22-25, 13-25, 15-9, in the SSAC Match of the Week.

The Rams came out strong, taking control early and building a 2-0 lead. Mobile cruised through the second set, limiting the Firehawks to just 11 points and putting themselves one set away from securing the sweep. UT Southern responded with a pair of strong sets of their own, however, forcing a decisive fifth set after taking the third and fourth set. Though early in the fifth things remained close, Mobile remained composed using a late push to pull away and close out the fifth set 15-9, securing the five-set win. 

Blatchford led the Rams offensively with 12 kills, while Kaylin Johnson added 11 kills and Emma Hampton finished with nine, as Mobile recorded 48 kills on the night. Emma McPherson helped lead the offense with a team-high 16 assists, while Hannah Ellis contributed 15 and Gabby Sheffield added four. 

The Rams also contributed a strong defensive effort at the net. Savannah Conklin led Mobile with four blocks, while Blatchford and Aubrey Sheffield each added two. Hope Blaylock led the way with 16 digs, followed by Gabby Sheffield with 14. Blatchford added six digs as Mobile finished with 61 digs, one more than UT Southern. 

From the service line, Aubrey Sheffield delivered a standout performance with six service aces, accounting for over half of Mobile's 10 aces. Gabby Sheffield added two, and Hope Blaylock added one. 

The win moves the Rams to 17-4 on the season.
