Women's Basketball Tests Itself Against the Best

Rams fall to Freed-Hardeman and Georgetown (Ky.); Gain valuable experience

LIFE UNIVERSITY | MARIETTA, Ga. – Following their home opener win against Stillman College, the Mobile Women's Basketball team headed to Georgia to take part in the Life U Classic. During their time in Marietta, the Rams would be up against some of the best in the NAIA as they faced #5 Freed-Hardeman and #11 Georgetown (Ky.). While the Rams were unable to come away with a win against either opponent, there were plenty of valuable lessons learned and plenty of experience gained ahead of a long 2026-2027 season!

Game One Recap: Mobile 46, Freed-Hardeman 75

Following tip-off, Mobile's first points would come through Caitlin Hull who knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Rams a 3-2 lead with just over a minute played. Freed-Hardeman would respond with a 14-3 run over the next 4 minutes to put them ahead of Mobile. The Rams would slowly grow into the contest and by the end of the first they would trail 15-24. The second quarter saw the Rams play much more evenly with their opponents, but the gap would remain on the scoreboard as they trailed 27-39 at the half.

The third quarter would be one to forget for the Rams as they made just 2 of their shot attempts, allowing the Lions to firmly cement their lead heading into the fourth quarter. Mobile would impress the most in the final ten minutes as they would outscore their opponents in a quarter for the first time. They would shoot 45.5% from the field in this last quarter, scoring 14 points compared to just 13 for the Lions. Ultimately the Rams would fall 46-75 and move to 1-1 on the season.

Game Two Recap: Mobile 72, Georgetown (Ky.) 86

The Rams would be back in action less than 24 hours later as they prepared to face the Tigers of Georgetown (Ky.). It was a slow start to the game for Mobile as they were outscored 11-24 in the opening quarter. The Tigers hit 58.3% of their shots in the first while the Rams hit just 18.8%, giving the Tigers a sizable lead to start. The second quarter would not get any easier for the Rams with shooting percentages continuing to hold steady as the Tigers would hold a 53-27 lead at halftime.

Fortunes would begin to change in the second half of the game as Mobile held the Tigers below 20 points in the 3rd quarter while scoring their highest total of the game so far with 17. In the final quarter of action though, the Rams truly showed what they could do as they put up 28 points and held their opponents to just 14 points. While their efforts in the 4th quarter were not enough for the comeback win, it showcased what the team is capable of when they are playing at their best.

Up Next for the Rams

The Rams are on the road once again as they travel to Louisiana for a pair of contests against LSU-Alexandria and Louisiana Christian University this weekend. The Rams will face the Generals at 5:00pm CT on November 6th before facing the Wildcats on November 7th at 12:00pm CT!
