Road Trip Ends in Two Wins for Women's Basketball

Rams move to 9-16 overall after pair of wins over SSAC East teams

WEST POINT & MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – With the 2025-2026 University of Mobile Women's Basketball regular season winding down to it's conclusion, the Rams finished out their final road games as they faced Point University and Brewton-Parker Christian University. Mobile had already face both sides back in January at the Pharr Gymnasium, with the Rams coming away with two wins in those contests. Now on the road, the Rams would face a tougher test as they faced their opponents without the support of their own fans. In the end, the Rams were able to continue their winning ways, defeating both the Skyhawks and Barons as they now sit on a three-game win streak heading into the final three games of the regular season.

Game One Recap: Mobile 76, Point 50

For the second time this season, the University of Mobile Rams dominated the Skyhawks in women's basketball, as the Rams earned a well-deserved 26 point victory over their conference opponents. In the first quarter, Mobile was able to create a ten point gap as they led 18-8. Cierra Highland continued to showcase her prowess for shooting in that opening quarter, going 3 for 3 from the field, including a 3-pointer, to lead the Rams with 7 points.

Through the second and third quarters, Point would give the Rams a fight. The Skyhawks outscored Mobile 19-18 in the second quarter and in the third, they would keep a similar pace, as Mobile outscored the hosts 19-16. Mariona Pontnou was the spark for Mobile in the second as she scored 8 points on 4 for 5 shooting while grabbing 4 rebounds along with 2 steals.
Emilee Duet would be the story of the third with her incredible 11 point, 5 steal showing through 8 minutes.

Heading into the fourth and final quarter, Mobile held a 55-43 advantage over Point. That lead would only grow for the Rams as they showed complete control of the game, scoring 21 points while limiting the Skyhawks to just 7. Jada Johnson would lead the scoring for Mobile in the quarter, putting up 13 points on 5 for 7 shooting. The Rams would come away with another conference win that helps improve their position in the SSAC standings as the regular season begins to come to a close.

Jada Johnson ended the contest with 17 points and 7 rebounds, leading the Rams in both categories against the Skyhawks. McKenna Sinon and Emilee Duet both scored in the double-digits against Point, with 13 and 11 points respectively. Hannah benoit and Deja Pryor tied with 3 assists each, while Emilee Duet led all players with 5 steals.

Game Two Recap: Mobile 80, Brewton-Parker 75

Coming off the back of a big win against, Point, the Rams turned their attention to the Barons of Brewton-Parker. The contest would decide which team would hold on to 8th place in the SSAC standings, with positioning in the standings potentially being critically important when the SSAC Women's Basketball Championship comes around later this month.

The opening ten minutes would be something that the Rams would hope to forget, finding themselves on the wrong end of a 24-13 scoreline. The first quarter saw Mobile have 11 turnovers and make just 5 of their 13 shots. Despite the struggles of the first, Mobile would work hard to get back into the game. In the second quarter, the Rams outscored the hosts 13-10 as both sides struggled to knock down their shots. Mobile's field goal percentage was just 20% in the second quarter, compared to Brewton-Parker's 15.4% shooting.

Following halftime, Mobile was like a team on fire as they stormed back into the game with a strong third quarter. Emilee Duet led the way with 12 points as the Rams outscored the Barons 31-18 to see the lead change over into the hands of Mobile. For the Rams, their hands were hot, shooting 68.8% from the field and 50% from three to force their way back into the contest.

In the final quarter, Mobile was able to hold on to their lead despite Brewton-Parker growing back into the game. Deja Pryor, Lamaria Jones, and Emilee Duet led the scoring charts in the fourth with 6 points each. Cierra Highland was vital in the battle for rebounds, grabbing 7 boards in the final ten minutes to give Mobile a 14-10 advantage in that category. In the end, Mobile would come away with a 80-75 victory that sees them overtake the Barons in the SSAC standings.

Emilee Duet topped the overall scoring charts with 21 points, shooting 46.6% from the field. Jada Johnson had a 17 point, 5 rebound night while her teammate Lamaria Jones had a 16 point, 8 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal performance.
