Baseball Run Rules Tigers in Midweek Meeting

Rams push home 10 runs in 8 innings to showcase good form ahead of weekend series

JACOBS FIELD | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile baseball team put on a dominant performance during Tuesday afternoon's meeting with Stillman College. The Rams pushed 10 runs across home plate during the eight inning contest, with a ninth inning not needed due to the run rule coming into effect. Mobile's baseball team now sits at 11-16 after a rocky start to the season which the Rams seem to have put past them with this latest victory.

Ben Buxton got the start on the mound for Mobile, throwing three scoreless innings while allowing just 3 hits to get things going for the Rams. Following Buxton's last appearance in the third, Mobile would open the scoring on a Trevor Murphy sacrifice fly to see Angel Ramos score from third. Adrian Roman would take his spot on the mound, throwing two complete innings and striking out 3 batters in his appearance. Mobile would add on 3 more runs in the fifth with Ethan Plank scoring on a passed ball, Weston Tubbs scoring on a Trevor Murphy single down the left field line, and Trevor Murphy coming home on a Colton Wood double to center field.

In the sixth inning, the Rams would find another run as Steele Sims would score on an error from the Tiger's first baseman. The misery would continue to pile on for Stillman in the final two innings, with Weston Tubbs, Trevor Murphy, and Colton Wood all coming home to score in the seventh, while Clint Smith scored in the eight after a single up the middle from Grant Driver. The game winning run would come home after Colton Wood singled to first base and the throw to home plate would be dropped by the catcher, allowing Grant Driver to tag the plate.

Trevor Murphy ended his day with 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI's and a walk. Colton Wood and Weston Tubbs both delivered 3 hit performances, leading the hit charts as the Rams totaled 15 hits on the afternoon.
