Softball Takes 4 Wins From 4 to Move Up Conference Standings

Rams shutout Point and Thomas, outscore opponents 30-0

UM SOFTBALL FIELD | MOBILE, Ala. - With SSAC play underway, the Rams got set for another home weekend, welcoming the visiting Skyhawks of Point Univeristy as well as the Night Hawks of Thomas University. Just a week earlier, the Rams kicked off SSAC play in Georgia, going 2-2 on that trip following splits with ABAC and Brewton-Parker Christian. As one of the preseason favorites for the SSAC, Mobile looked to turn things around in front of their home fans by taking four wins from the weekend. The Rams would do just that, collecting four wins while outscoring their opponents 30-0, earning a weekend shutout and picking up steam ahead of the long conference schedule that awaits them for the remainder of the season.

Series One - Mobile vs. Point (7-0|8-0)

In the weekend opener against Point, the Rams left no doubts in the minds of those in attendance about who the better team was as they worked a 7-0 win in game one before run-ruling the Skyhawks 8-0 in game two. Across both games Mobile outhit Point 25-3 which would be reflected in the scorelines of both games. Diana Arcay saw the ball well at the plate totaling 6 hits and 4 RBIs to lead the team in both categories. Avery Harrell and Katelynn Kempton left the Skyhawks looking for the ball as they struck out 12 batters.

Series Two - Mobile vs. Thomas (5-0|10-0)

In the second series of the weekend, the Rams kicked things up a notch as Avery Harrell threw a no-hitter in game one as Mobile secured a 5-0 win to start Saturday. Game two of the doubleheader would see the Rams push home 10 runs in 3 innings to secure a second run-rule victory on the weekend. In both wins, Mobile's batters would record 12 hits, bringing their total for the weekend to an astounding 49 hits in 2 days! Daryelin Rivas would follow in the footsteps of her Venezuelan compatriot by leading the teams efforts with 5 hits, 4 runs, and an RBI. Madeline Houk and Diana Arcay would get credit for 4 RBIs each in the second game.

Up Next for the Rams

The Rams will be back at home on Friday, March 27th for a conference doubleheader against the Eagles of Faulkner University. That doubleheader can be watched live, for free, on Urban Edge Network with first pitch scheduled for 2:00pm CT!
