Kyle Friday has lead the University of Mobile Baseball program since the 2024 NAIA baseball season. Being named the interim head coach prior to the 2024 season, Friday was given the official status as head coach in July of 2024. Prior to his current role, Friday held the assistant coach role with Mobile baseball for two seasons.
Prior to Position at University of Mobile
Friday is a native of Orrville, Ala. and played two seasons of baseball at the University of Mobile during the 2018 and 2019 seasons prior to starting his coaching career. Before his time Mobile, Friday played two seasons at Wallace Selma Community College.
During his playing career at Mobile, Friday was a weekend starting pitcher for the Rams while also being tabbed as the designated hitter in games he did not pitch. In 2018, Friday was named to the SSAC Second-Team All-Conference team, hitting .358 on the year. In 2019, Friday hit .345 and was once again named to the SSAC Second-Team All-Conference team. Additionally, he earned a conference gold glove award for the pitching position and was named to the SSAC All-Academic team both seasons.
Friday was named the 2023 Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year for the Small College Division after helping guide the Rams to the program's first-ever SSAC Championship title during the 2023 campaign.
About Him
Friday graduated from the University of Mobile in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. He has spent two seasons as the graduate assistant for UM Baseball and received a Master's Degree in Physical Education from the University of West Alabama. He married Morgan Cleveland, a UM Alumna, in March of 2021 and the two had their first child together in 2024.
