Baker joins the University of Mobile's Women's Basketball staff as a Graduate Assistant under Head Coach Sydney Westry.
When asked about why Westry chose Baker, Westry said "Rachael has a strong IQ for the game. She comes from UT Southern where she played for 3 years and I had the opportunity to coach her." Westry says "Rachael gets it. She understands me and it was a no-brainer to bring her on staff."
Baker attended Locust Fork High School in Blount County Alabama, played 4 years of varsity basketball, and was a part of the 2017 3a State championship team. Was awarded a full basketball scholarship to the University of Montevallo in 2018. Transferred to Martin Methodist/University of Tennessee Southern in 2020 and played 3 years of college basketball. Graduated in May 2023 with a bachelor's of Exercise science and a minor in psychology.
Baker says "Coach Westry was my assistant coach while I was playing at Martin Methodist, and we both share the same level of intensity. So, when I got the call asking to come down to UM, I did not think twice about it because of the relationship we have and our determination to win."Â
