Whytney Singleton

Whytney Singleton, or Coach Whyt to her players, joins the University of Mobile Athletic Department for her first season as assistant women's basketball coach ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Coach Whyt has been playing the game of basketball since the age of three after being introduced to the sport by her two older brothers. Following in their footsteps, she was a standout player at Mattie T. Blount High School in Mobile, Ala., where she calls home. Singleton helped lead Blount High School to two Final Four appearances in the state of Alabama, while being selected for the Alabama North South All-Star Game. Additionally, she was named an honorable mention for the 2013 Alabama All-State Team. Singleton joined the Blount High School 1,000-Point Club during her time there, and followed her high school career by earning a full scholarship to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where she continued her basketball career.

Singleton eventually graduated UAB with a Bachelor's in Kinesiology with a concentration in Fitness Leadership. While in Birmingham, Ala., Singleton served as a lead trainer at several Anytime Fitness locations, while also becoming an official through JeffCo Basketball Official's Association.

In the summer of 2020, Singleton returned home to Mobile, Ala. and was hired as the Varsity Girl's Basketball Assistant Coach at Saraland High School in Saraland, Ala. Singleton has a unique perspective in that she has experienced the game as a player, coach, and as an official. Her educational background and experiences make her an invaluable part of the team. Coach Whyt's passion is seeing the progression an athlete is able to make with dedication and hard work.

In her personal time, Singleton loves to spend time with close friends and family. Her greatest title is being an auntie to her many nieces and nephews. She enjoys playing basketball and traveling when she wants to get away from work and have some well-deserved fun.
