Daniel Whelan returned to the University of Mobile as the Men's Soccer Head Coach in April of 2026 after a 1 year absence from the program. He will take on his 12th season in 2026 having previously led the Rams to six-straight NAIA National Championship Tournament appearances between 2019-2024. He led the Rams to two-straight runner-up finishes in the 2021 and 2022 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championships, falling to Keiser University in 2021 and Bethel University (Ind.) in 2022.

Before taking over as head coach at Mobile, he previously spent five seasons at as assistant coach for the Rams, with prior stops at Spring Hill and Embry-Riddle.


Stats/Records as Head Coach (2014-2024 & 2026-Present):
  • Six-Time Regular Season SSAC Champions.
  • 2017 & 2023 SSAC Tournament Champions.
  • Five-Time SSAC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year (2014, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024).
  • Six NAIA National Championship Appearances: Quarterfinals (2014 & 2019, 2023), Opening Round (2020), and National Championship Finals (2021 & 2022).
  • Coached 26 NAIA All-Americans, two NAIA Player of the Year winners, 32 First-Team All-SSAC selections, three SSAC Player of the Year winners, four SSAC Offensive Player of the Year winners, five SSAC Defensive Player of the Year winners, three SSAC Golden Boot winners, three SSAC Golden Gloves winner, two SSAC Newcomer of the Year winner, two SSAC Freshman of the Year, and 30 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
