Sydney Pelaez

Sydney Pelaez was named the assistant coach for the University of Mobile Softball program in the summer of 2025. Under the direction of Head Coach Alison Sellers-Cook, Pelaez oversees the individual and positional development of the team's catchers and pitchers.

Prior to Position at University of Mobile

Pelaez is very familiar with the world of NAIA Softball having played 5 seasons as a catcher at Georgia Gwinnett College. While at Georgia Gwinnett, she earned numerous awards for her performances including 5x All-Conference selections, Freshman of the Year (2019), 2x NFCA All-American selections (2022 & 2023), CAC Player of the Year (2023), NAIA All-American (2023), and NAIA Catcher of the Year (2023). In addition to her on field accolades, she earned several awards through her academic pursuits having ben named a COSIDA Academic All-American 3 times as well as being named the COSIDA Academic Team Member of the Year for NAIA in 2023. During her time in Lawrenceville, the Grizzlies had a 171-70 overall record, reaching the NAIA Softball Opening Round on four occasions (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023) and the NAIA Softball World Series twice (2019 & 2023).

In addition to her role as assistant softball coach with the Rams, Pelaez serves as a part time faculty member at Georgia Gwinnett College in the School of Liberal Arts: Political Science, Criminal Justice, and International Studies.

About Her


A native of Tampa, Florida, she attended Carrollwood Day School before graduating and attending Georgia Gwinnett College. At Georgia Gwinnett, she earned her Bachelor of Art in Political Science, International Relations, and Public Administration. She then went on to earn a Master of Art in Political Science and International Relations from George Mason University.
