MOBILE, Ala. - Riding a three-game win streak entering Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13, the University of Mobile Men's Basketball team looked to make it four-straight wins as they battled non-conference foe Louisiana Christian University on Saturday in Pharr Gymnasium. The two teams met earlier in the season in Pineville, La. on Oct. 30 which saw the Rams hit a buzzer-beating three to claim their first win of the season and start the current three-game win streak Mobile is riding.
However, Louisiana Christian, who was formally known as Louisiana College just a couple of weeks ago before undergoing a name change, got revenge over Mobile and defeated the Rams in Pharr Gym, 72-63. Both teams saw their overall records move to 3-3 on the year following Saturday's result.
Rebounds were the story on Saturday as Louisiana Christian dominated in the paint. The Wildcats managed 24 rebounds in the first half while Mobile only managed to grab five boards. The Rams trailed by eight at the half with the score sitting at 36-28. Eight of Louisiana Christian's 24 rebounds were offensive rebounds.Â
In the second half, it was much of the same as Louisana Christian tallied a total of 37 rebounds in the game and scored 42 of their 72 points in the paint. The Wildcats recorded 12 second-chance points following their 12 offensive boards. Mobile recorded just 13 rebounds and 14 points in the paint.
Mobile's Joshua Williams was outstanding from off the bench, leading the team with 18 points while shooting 7-9 from the floor. Williams played 33 minutes and managed three assists, one steal, and one rebound in the loss. Logan Foutz finished second on the team with 13 points and LaDarius Knight finished with 11 points from off the bench in just his second game played as a Ram.
The Rams will look to bounce back next Tuesday, Nov. 16 as they hit the road to New Orleans, La. with an evening game against non-conference rival Dillard University at 7:00 p.m. CT.
