Rams Win in Regular Season Finale; Earn No. 4 Seed in Upcoming SSAC Volleyball Championship Tournament

Mobile Turns Attention Towards Conference Championship Following Five-Set Win Over Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - On Thursday night, Nov. 4, the University of Mobile Volleyball team concluded their 2021 regular season schedule with a five-set road victory over the Faulkner Eagles. Mobile won the first two sets, but allowed the Eagles to win sets three and four to force a deciding fifth set. However, Mobile bounced back in the fifth and final set and won the match, 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 17-25, 15-5. With the win on Thursday, Mobile wrapped up the regular season with a 21-5 overall record and 10-4 conference record.

In Thursday's victory, Mobile's offense was down, hitting just .134 as a team in the five sets played. The Rams took 201 attack attempts, recording 63 kills and 36 errors. Senior Rachel Hart led Mobile with a .364 hitting percentage, tallying five kills in 11 attempts. No other Ram hit over .250 in the match.

Junior Abby Andrews, who leads Mobile in total kills this year, recorded a team-high 17 kills on Thursday. Andrews was joined by Carli Rouse and Kiara Garrett as the only Rams to record double-digit kill totals with all three hitting below .200.

Sarah Warren once again led Mobile in assists, recording 35 in the match. Freshman Tatum Beech tallied 22 and libero Melea Meadows recorded three. Meadows finished with the team lead in digs in the win, recording 36 on the night. Abby Andrews was second on the team with 16 digs.

With the win, as well as a Blue Mountain win on Saturday, Mobile will enter the postseason as the No. 4 seed in the upcoming SSAC Volleyball Championship Tournament. Despite Mobile having the fewest losses amongst SSAC teams, their four losses in the conference portion of the schedule dropped Mobile down from the No. 1 seed. The Rams won the SSAC Volleyball Championship last season and will look to defeed their title next week.

The tournament takes place Nov. 11-13 at Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala. Pool play will take place Nov. 11-12, with the semifinals and finals set for Nov. 13 in Montgomery.
