Mobile's Three-Game Win Streak Snapped by No. 3 Talladega on Thursday Night

Rams' Quest at Four-Straight Wins Halted by No. 3 Tornadoes

TALLADEGA, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team entered a big conference game Thursday night, Jan. 20 against No. 3 Talladega College riding a three-game winning streak and hoped to upset the third-ranked Tornadoes on their home floor. Mobile nearly upset Talladega in their first meeting of the season at Pharr Gymnasium on Dec. 2 as the Rams fell by just four points to the then ranked No. 4 team in the nation. However, Talladega managed to keep the Rams in check on Thursday, defeating Mobile, 76-47. Mobile's overall record falls to 9-12 on the year and 3-6 in conference play.

Mobile's offense struggled to get anything going consistently Thursday night as the Rams saw just one player score over 10 points in the loss. Gary Jefferson recorded a game-high 21 points in the defeat and finished one rebound shy of a double-double. As a team, Mobile only shot 32% from the floor and made just one of 16 three-point attempts. Mobile was 16-22 from the free-throw line.

No. 3 Talladega out-rebounded the Rams 41-34 and forced 17 Mobile turnovers. The Tornadoes turned the ball over just six total times in the game and managed to score 16 points off of Mobile's 17 turnovers. Talladega saw 11 players on the roster score at least one basket on Thursday night, but never saw a player surpass 12 points.

The Rams will look to shake off the tough loss to Talladega on Thursday night as Mobile is scheduled for a conference game Saturday afternoon, Jan. 22 at 1:00 p.m. CT against Dalton State College. Saturday's game will be played on the road in Dalton, Ga.
