DALTON, Ga. - Despite holding a 35-31 halftime lead, the University of Mobile Men's Basketball team eventually fell to the Dalton State Roadrunners on Saturday, Jan. 22 67-61 on the road in north Georgia. With the loss, the Rams have now lost two games in a row after riding a three-game win streak and have seen their overall season record drop to 9-13 and 3-7 in SSAC action.
The Rams shot 35% from the floor in Saturday's conference game against the Roadrunners and managed to force 20 Dalton State turnovers while recording 13 total steals as a team. Mobile scored 21 points off turnovers and saw Gary Jefferson lead the team with four steals. Jefferson mixed in 10 points and a team-high five rebounds to go with his steals total. Like Jefferson, Ezra McKenna also recorded five rebounds in the loss.
Dalton State out-rebounded Mobile 29-24 in the game and managed a quick start to the second half that propelled the Roadrunners to the lead where they never looked back. Dalton State out-scored Mobile 36-26 in the second half to grab the victory.
In addition to Gary Jefferson's numbers, DaMariee Jones and Logan Foutz led the Rams in scoring with 12 points each. All 12 points for Foutz came off four made three-pointers. No other Ram scored double-digit point totals in the defeat.
Mobile will attempt to bounce back in their next game on the schedule on Thursday, Jan. 27. Mobile will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a conference game against an always talented Stillman College team at 7:30 p.m. CT.
