Rams Tally Fourth-Straight Sweep with Victory Over Life University on Saturday

MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Volleyball team continued the roll that they have been on Saturday, Oct. 1 as the Rams managed a sweep over Life University in what was just the third meeting all-time between the two programs. Mobile's 25-14, 25-16, 25-21 victory on Saturday at home marks the team's four-straight win, all coming in the form of a 3-0 sweep. Mobile improved the overall record on the season to 15-5, while moving their conference record to 7-1. 14 of the Rams' 15 victories have come via the sweep.

Offense Impresses Again

Following a nice offensive showing by the Rams against Talladega College on Friday night in Pharr Gymnasium, the Mobile offense picked up where the left off on Saturday and managed to record a .276 hitting percentage in the match, with set two being the most productive set with a .371 hitting mark alone. Through 98 attack attempts, Mobile committed just 10 attack errors, while tallying 37 total kills as a team.

Abby Andrews looked unstoppable in the first set, recording six total kills in the set to start the match. Andrews ended up finishing with 10 kills total, hitting .371 on the afternoon. In Mobile's two home matches on the weekend, the senior recorded 20 kills, leading the Rams.

Freshman Corrina Porch-Maxey led Mobile on Saturday with 12 kills, dominating the second set. Seven of Porch-Maxey's 12 kills came in the second set alone as the Indianapolis, Ind. native hit .360 and led all players on the offensive side with her 12 kills.

The Rams tallied 10 service aces on Friday night against Talladega, and followed on Saturday with 13 as a team against the Running Eagles of Life. Tatum Beech and Abby Andrews both led the team with three aces each in the victory as Beech brought her aces total to seven in the last two matches played. Additionally, Beech ended up leading the Rams with 15 assists in the match.

On the defensive side, freshman libero Lexi Gillette once again led Mobile with 12 digs, being following by Beech with eight and Andrews with seven. Gillette increased her digs total on the season to 246, which leads the team.

Biggest Match of the Season Upcoming

With Mobile sweeping the opposition at home this weekend, the Rams will turn their focus to Tuesday, Oct. 4 where Mobile will host conference rival William Carey in Pharr Gymnasium for the first meeting of the season. Tuesday's match is slated for 7:00 p.m. CT.

William Carey and Mobile will enter Tuesday in a three-way tie with Blue Mountain College for first-place in current SSAC Volleyball standings. All three teams are currently sporting a 7-1 record in SSAC action.
