Rams Struggle in Two Weekend Conference Matches on the Road

Mobile on Losing Skid with Third-Straight Loss on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The last seven days have been forgettable ones at most for the University of Mobile Volleyball team, losing three-straight road conference matches beginning on Oct. 8 with a loss to Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Miss. One week later, Mobile dropped two more matches on Oct. 14-15, falling to William Carey 16-25, 16-25, 22-25 in Hattiesburg on Friday night, and losing a three-set match to Loyola (La.) 14-25, 18-25, 14-25 on Saturday afternoon in New Orleans, La. All three losses have come via the sweep.

William Carey 3, Mobile 0 - Recap

With William Carey having a stellar night offensively with a .303 hitting percentage against the Rams on Friday night, Mobile struggled to hit, recording just a .128 team hitting percentage. Both teams took 109 total attacks each in the match, with William Carey tallying 46 kills and Mobile finishing with just 29 team kills.

Individually, Mobile saw Aleah Kennedy lead the team with seven kills, while hitting .600 in the match. Behind Kennedy, however, Mobile could not manage any consistent hitting.  Tatum Beech led the Rams with 14 assists and Lexi Gillette tallied a team-high 10 defensive digs.

With the win on Friday, William Carey sweeps the regular season series in two matches with the Rams, with the first win coming in five sets on Mobile's home court earlier in the month.

Loyola 3, Mobile 0 - Recap

One day following the tough sweep to conference rival William Carey, the Rams traveled to New Orleans, La. on Saturday for a match against the Wolf Pack of Loyola (La.). Mobile managed a sweep over the Wolf Pack at home in September of this season, but saw Loyola come away with the sweep on Saturday.

Offensive struggles continued for Mobile on Saturday, recording just a .027 team hitting percentage. The Rams took more attacks than Loyola with 113 total, but saw 22 attack errors compared to the team's 25 kills. Loyola made just nine errors in 102 attack attempts.

Similar to Friday, no Ram tallied double digit kill totals on Saturday as Corrina Porch-Maxey led the way with eight kills. Layton Adams led the team with 13 assists and Abby Andrews tallied a team-high 13 digs.

Six Matches Remain

With the toughest portion of the schedule behind Mobile, the Rams have just six regular season matches remaining on the 2022 schedule, with the next four being played at home in Pharr Gymnasium. Mobile will look for revenge from an earlier loss in the season to Faulkner next Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1:00 p.m. CT.

Next Saturday at the University of Mobile is homecoming.
