NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team continued their long eight-game road trip on Tuesday night, Nov. 7 with a non-conference game against Dillard University in New Orleans, La. The Rams fell to the Bleu Devils 58-54 on Tuesday, dropping the overall season record to 2-4 ahead of conference play.
Recap
Despite Dillard holding a lead over Mobile for the majority of the game, the Rams kept things close and eventually made it a two-point game with less than a minute left in regulation. However, Mobile failed to overcome the Dillard lead as the Bleu Devils managed a victory on their home court.
Entering Tuesday's game, Mobile Head Coach Erika Stuckman wanted her team to work on two major categories against Dillard. Stuckman wanted the Rams to limit the turnovers and shoot better from the free throw line. Unfortunately for Mobile, the struggles continued in both categories against Dillard, as the team committed 15 turnovers and only made six of 11 free throw attempts.
Offensively, Mobile struggled to shoot, recording just a 28% shooting mark from the floor and finishing 2-for-15 from the three-point line. Being just a four-point loss to Dillard who only shot 32% from the floor, more consistent baskets for the Rams could have led to a victory on the road for Mobile.
Erica Jones led the way individually for Mobile, notching her second-straight double-double. Jones finished with a game-high 16 points, while tallying 13 rebounds. Five of Jones' 13 rebounds were offensive boards.
MacKenzie White recorded a season-high 12 points in the loss to Dillard, while dishing out a team-high six assists, and Claire Worth notched seven points, but managed to grab 10 rebounds in the defeat.
