Mobile's Three-Game Win Streak Snapped on Thursday

Rams Fall to Middle Georgia State Despite Late Comeback

COCHRAN, Ga. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team saw a three-game win streak snapped on Thursday night, Jan. 19 with a loss on the road to Middle Georgia State University. The Rams managed to defeat the Knights of Middle Georgia State 96-71 at home earlier in the year, but fell in the second and final meeting of the regular season, 77-70. Prior to Thursday, Mobile put together a three-game winning streak and have won eight of the last 10 contests.

Mobile's overall record falls to 12-7 and 6-5 in conference action following Thursday's loss.

Time Runs Out on Mobile

Middle Georgia State started the game off strong against the Rams, quickly taking a double-digit lead through the first six minutes of Thursday's action. Eventually, the Knights managed to score 41 points through the first 20 minutes, while holding Mobile to just 28 points. The hot start offensively for Middle Georgia State set the tone of the game, with Mobile never seeing a lead. However, Mobile found a late offensive run with under two minutes remaining, seeing a 13-point Middle Georgia State lead shrink to just five points with 29 seconds remaining. Made free throws in the closing seconds allowed the Knights to stay out front by two possessions as time ran out on Mobile, handing the Rams the seven-point loss.

Mobile put together a 46% shooting line as a team, while shooting 36% from the three-point line. The Rams made seven three-point shots in the loss, all coming in the second half, and tallied 11 of 14 free throws. The rebound battle went in favor of Mobile, 27-25.

Individually, Pooh Frazier finished with a team-high 23 points from off the bench in his return to the court. Frazier suffered a minor ankle injury last week which held him out of Mobile's last game played on Tuesday. Frazier played 36 minutes from off head coach Darnell Archey's bench, making five of Mobile's seven threes in the loss. DaMariee Jones followed Frazier by scoring 18 points, while Ezra McKenna ended the night with 15 points. McKenna was two rebounds shy of his 14th double-double of the season, while Jones finished three boards shy of a double-double.

Looking Ahead

Mobile will have a quick turnaround as the Rams travel to Mount Vernon, Ga. for a Saturday afternoon game against Brewton-Parker College on Jan. 21. Saturday's game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT as Mobile looks to bounce back from Thursday's loss.
