HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team traveled to Hattiesburg, Miss. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 and fell to conference rival William Carey, 63-56. The loss is Mobile's second defeat in a row, with the Rams dropping four of the last six games. Mobile's overall record falls to 12-14 on the year and 8-8 in SSAC action.
Crusaders Get Revenge
After Mobile defeated William Carey back on Jan. 12, it was the Crusaders who came out on top on Tuesday evening, defeating the Rams by six points. Through all four quarters, Mobile trailed their conference rival despite keeping the game close, and eventually allowed William Carey to lead at halftime, 28-25. In the second half, the Crusaders managed to outscore Mobile 35-31 in the final 20 minutes to eventually claim the 63-56 win.Â
The Rams shot just 37% from the floor in the defeat on Tuesday, making 20 shots. Additionally, Mobile converted 13 of 19 free throw attempts and knocked down three three-pointers against William Carey. In the rebound battle, the Crusaders dominated by tallying 44 rebounds compared to Mobile's 28.Â
MacKenzie White and Cosette Balmy both notched 14 points in the loss for Mobile, leading the team. Balmy finished two rebounds shy of a double-double with her team-high eight boards, while Alesha Temple tallied 10 points. Erica Jones, Mobile's team leading in scoring on the year, was held to just seven points on Tuesday, her lowest total since Jan. 3.
Two Games Remain
Mobile is set to play two more regular season games on the 2022-23 season, both being scheduled at home. First, the Rams will host Blue Mountain Christian University on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. CT in Pharr Gymnasium, and will follow that with the regular season finale next Thursday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m. CT against Life University.Â
