Mobile Back in Win Column with 13-Point Victory Over Blue Mountain

Rams Grab Home Win on Thursday Evening

H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM, MOBILE, Ala. - Coming off two-straight losses, the University of Mobile Women's Basketball bounced back into the win column on Thursday evening, Feb. 9 by defeating the Blue Mountain Christian Toppers 53-40 in Pharr Gymnasium. The win moves Mobile within one game of a .500 winning percentage on the season with just one regular season game remaining on the schedule. The Rams move 13-14 overall after defeating Blue Mountain, while improving the current conference record to 9-8.

Slow Start, Strong Finish for Mobile

Blue Mountain came out scoring in a quickly-paced game on Thursday, leading the Rams through the first seven minutes of the game. However, once Mobile took the lead late in the first quarter, the Rams held that lead throughout the rest of the game. Mobile took a 15-13 advantage to the second quarter, while outscoring the Toppers 18-10 in the second, leading 33-23 at halftime.

Coming out of halftime, both teams struggled to score in the third quarter, scoring just six points a piece. The slow third quarter kept Mobile's 10-point lead entering the final 10 minutes, which gave the Rams momentum to close things out in the fourth. In need of an offensive run, Blue Mountain eventually allowed the Rams to stretch out the lead in the fourth, with Mobile claiming the victory by 13 points.

Mobile finished the game with just a 32% shooting line, making 23 total shots. MacKenzie White led all players in the win, scoring 15 points, all coming in the first half. She added six rebounds. Cosette Balmy followed White's performance with 10 points, while recording a team-high seven assists, five rebounds, and a game-high five steals. Erica Jones, Mobile's team leader in scoring on the year, was one point shy of a double-double, tallying 10 rebounds and nine points. The Rams were led by Alesha Temple in the rebound category, finishing with 12 boards.

One Game Left

Mobile is hoping to continue momentum from Thursday's win in the regular season finale on Thursday, Feb. 16. Mobile will return to action in one week for the finale and will host Life University at 5:30 p.m. CT.
