Men's Tennis Improves to 13-0 Following Undefeated Weekend at SSAC Round-Up

No. 16 Mobile Stays Unbeaten with Two More Wins on the Year

MOBILE TENNIS CENTER | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Tennis team continued the undefeated start to the 2024 season over the weekend, picking up two wins over conference opponents at the annual SSAC Tennis Round-Up at the Mobile Tennis Center. The 16th-ranked Rams managed to defeat Point University (Ga.) and UT-Southern (Tenn.) to improve to 13-0 overall on the year.

The small conference tournament began with Mobile opening the weekend on Friday, Mar. 22 with a match against Point, shutting out the Skyhawks, 7-0. Reigning SSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week Joao Pedro Okano and William Crowe highlighted singles action for Mobile, with both players securing 6-0, 6-0 wins. Okano's shut out came from the top-seeded singles match in the lineup, while Crowe won from No. 5 singles. In doubles play, Mobile cruised past Point in all three doubles matches, combining to drop just one set.

The following morning, Mobile concluded the regular season tourney with a 7-0 shutout over UT-Southern. Okano once again dominated from No. 1 singles, defeating UT-Southern's top seed 6-2, 6-1. Martin Jeanne followed from the second flight in the lineup with a 6-1, 6-0 win. The Firehawks managed a win against Mobile from No. 2 doubles, but did not see that win reflect on the overall score after the Rams took the first and third flights of doubles action.
