No. 14 Mobile Finishes 1-1 in Weekend Conference Matches

Rams Conclude Conference Portion of Schedule with 1-1 Showing at SSAC Men's Tennis Round-Up

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Tennis team played the final two SSAC matches of the regular season over the weekend in Montgomery, Ala., competing in the second SSAC Men's Tennis Round-Up of the year.

Mobile began action on Friday, Apr. 5 with a matchup against No. 7 Middle Georgia State University, eventually dropping a close match to the Knights, 4-3. The 14th-ranked Rams managed to secure the doubles point over Middle Georgia State to start the match, but were only able to capture two singles victories. Callum Dickson and William Crowe came away with Mobile's lone two wins in singles play in the 4-3 loss to the Knights.

The following day, the Rams battled Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) to wrap up play in Montgomery and shut down the Toppers, 7-0. Mobile made quick work of doubles action, winning 6-1 across the first and third flights, while sweeping Blue Mountain in each singles match of the afternoon. Five of the six singles matches played finished as two-set wins for the Rams. 

Mobile's overall record moves to 15-2 on the season following the 1-1 weekend, while finishing the conference portion of the season with a 5-2 SSAC record.

Mobile is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, Apr. 9 at home, hosting crosstown rival Spring Hill College (Ala.) in what is the regular season finale for the Rams. Tuesday's match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. CT, with Senior Day festivities prior.
