H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team delivered a strong performance in Pharr Gymnasium on Monday night, Jan. 27, defeating a talented Dillard University (La.) team 89-68 to remain unbeaten at home on the season. Mobile splits the season series with the non-conference rival, with Dillard winning game one in New Orleans, La. 82-65 back in November.
On Monday, Mobile led for the majority of the contest, with the lead changing hands just one time early in the first half. The Rams improved their overall season record to 15-4, extending the current win streak to six games.
Solid Halves Lead to Win
The Rams set the tone early against the Bleu Devils, outscoring Dillard 47-30 in the first half with a high-energy offense and relentless defensive effort. Mobile managed a 57.1% shooting line as a team across the first half, making 16 shots from the field, while recording four steals and forcing six turnovers. In the second half, Mobile continued its strong effort despite seeing several key players in foul trouble. Mobile was called for 15 fouls alone in the second half, but managed to escape seeing a player foul out of Monday's game.
The Rams eventually outscored Dillard 42-38 in the final 20 minutes to close out the 21-point win, ending Monday with an impressive 57.4% shooting line from the field. Additionally, Mobile recorded a scorching 44.4% mark from beyond the arc for three, with Trent Moye knocking in four three-pointers and both Colin Howells and Treylan Smith notching three a piece. The Rams made a total of 12 threes in the win.
Defensively, Mobile held Dillard to a 37.9% field goal percentage and limited their three-point shooting to just 21.1%. The Rams forced 11 turnovers, converting those into 15 points. Seven players on Mobile's side finished the victory with one steal to their name.
Trent Moye eventually paced Mobile offensively with 17 points, followed closely by Treylan Smith with 16. Non-Conference Road Contest Ahead
