TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team fell to Stillman College (Ala.) in a tough road matchup in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Thursday, Jan. 30, seeing a 12-game win streak come to an end in the process. Despite a strong second-half effort by the Rams, Mobile was unable to overcome an early deficit in the first half, ultimately losing Thursday's contest, 84-65.
Prior to Thursday's loss, Mobile's last defeat came on Nov. 23 as the Rams managed to rattle off 12-straight victories across the last two months. Mobile's overall record falls to 17-4 on the season, while Stillman improves to 18-4.
How It Happened
Stillman took control early, outscoring Mobile 17-2 in the first quarter. Mobile struggled offensively throughout the entire first half as the Rams only managed eight total points before halftime. Stillman took a 40-8 lead to the halftime break, with Mobile making only four of 27 shots from the floor across the first 20 minutes.
However, the Rams found their rhythm in the third and fourth quarters, scoring 25 and 32 points, respectively. The strong offensive quarters cut the Stillman lead, with the Tigers only leading by 11 points at one point in the fourth where Mobile opened the final quarter of the game with a 16-0 run. Stillman's big first half eventually proved to be the difference, though, as the Tigers managed the 19-point win in the end.
Alanna Donaldson led Mobile with 23 points, shooting 9-for-22 from the field. MacKenzie White also made a significant impact with a double-double, recording 19 points, 11 rebounds, and six steals. Miriam Oldacre contributed 12 points and three rebounds as the Rams only saw three players finish in double figures.
Mobile struggled with efficiency, shooting 31.9% from the field and only 18.8% from three-point range across the loss. In contrast, Stillman shot an impressive 57.1% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc.
