Volleyball Collects Win Number 21 Against SUNO

Rams sweep the Knights in for second time this season

PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile volleyball team took on their final home non-conference match of the season on Tuesday evening, facing Southern University of New Orleans in the Pharr Gymnasium. For the Rams, the match was their second meeting with SUNO during the 2025 season and the 22nd meeting between the two sides all time. Mobile would run out as winners, sweeping the Knights for the second time this season.

Mobile vs. SUNO Recap: (3-0 | 25-23, 25-12, 25-7)

Mobile got things started off as Emma McPherson took the match's opening serve. Despite holding the initial lead, Mobile would fall behind and trail SUNO for much of the opening set with the Knights holding a 5 point lead over the Rams at one point. Despite being behind, Mobile stayed persistent and went on a 7 point run with 4 service aces from Hannah Ellis to retake the lead late on before edging out a 25-23 win. Things got better for the Rams in set two as they quickly jumped out to an 11-1 lead. The Rams would go on to take set two 25-12 behind an improved hitting performance where they hit .281 in the set with 12 kills with just 3 errors. Set three is where Mobile truly shined as they cruised to a dominant 25-7 victory to seal the sweep over the opposition. The home side hit .424 in the set with 15 kills and just 1 error.

Overall, Mobile had 38 kills and 10 aces in the victory with Sophie Dorris having a phenomenal night as she lead the team with 8 kills and no errors, hitting .400 overall. Jaci Drinnon had 23 digs in the match while Emma McPherson dished out 17 assists. Hannah Ellis added 11 assists to her 5 service aces. Freshman setter Harper Morgan made an appearance later on in the match providing 3 assists in her limited time on the court. Kacey Quinnelly also made a short appearance in the match managing 1 attack in that time.

Up Next for the Rams

Mobile volleyball (21-2|11-2) returns to their regular season SSAC schedule as they travel to face Point University at 1:00pm CT on October 31st. Following that match, Mobile will take on Truett McConnell University at 3:00pm CT.
