2025 Season Comes to a Close for Men's Soccer

Mobile falls to Faulkner in SSAC Opening Round

BILLY HILYER STADIUM | MONTGOMERY, Ala. -  The University of Mobile Men's Soccer team traveled up Interstate 65 to Montgomery, Alabama this afternoon to face Faulkner University in the opening round of the SSAC Conference Tournament. The two sides would face off for the second straight match just 5 days after their meeting at the end of the regular season on October 25th. Unfortunately for the Rams, they were unable to spin a positive result from the match and fell 1-0 to see their season come to an early close.

After finishing the regular season with the #6 seed in the SSAC standings, Mobile quickly learned that they would be facing Faulkner University once again, this time without the advantage of playing at home as the Rams would be the visitors in this meeting. With the previous meeting fresh in the minds of the team, Mobile looked to shake off the loss and push for a tournament run that would make up for the regular season. Things would not go as planned for the Rams as the first half was controlled by Faulkner who put up 4 shots and 3 corner kicks compared to Mobile's 1 shot. Despite the home side's control over the first half, they were unable to break through the Mobile defense which stood firm through the first 45.

Right after returning from halftime, Faulkner would get the eventual game winner as they scored in the 47th minute to sink the Rams and end their 2025 campaign early. Mobile fought hard in the second half to find an equalizer, but the 8 shots taken were unable to find the back of the net. Mobile's Eugenio Cazares was the spearhead of the attack as he had 3 shots in the match including both of his sides shots on target.

Up Next for the Rams

The University of Mobile Men's Soccer team now transitions into the offseason with the 2025 season now over. The Rams finished the season with a 5-10-1 record overall and 4-4-1 in conference.
