Slow Second Quarter Sinks Rams

Mobile falls to Dillard at home

PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - Roundig out the first stretch of home games during the 2025-2026 season, the University of Mobile Women's Basketball team took on Dillard University in the Pharr Gymnasium as the Rams looked to put an end to their early season struggles. With a 1-3 record heading into the match, Mobile would come up against a Dillard side who traveled with just 7 active players on the roster. Despite the advantage of a deeper bench, the Rams would fall to the Bleu Devils 89-66 with a slow second quarter seeing Dillard rally back to take down the home side.

Mobile would start the first quarter off strong with Jada Johnson scoring the first four points for the Rams on back-to-back layups before Taylor Lee drained a 3-point shot to put her side back in the lead. Mobile would hold on to that lead for the rest of the quarter as Mobile piled on the points, taking a 25-15 lead into the second quarter. The second quarter would unfortunately be where things started to go downhill for the Rams as Dillard proceeded to go on a 17-0 run to take the lead. The Bleu Devils never looked back after that and continued to pile on the misery for Mobile as the Rams would end the first half down by 12.

The Rams would come out from the halftime break playing better than they had when they left the court, but momentum favored the visitors as Dillard continued to hold on to their lead. Lamaria Jones put up 6 points while Jada Johnson added in 5 of her own as Mobile went in to the final quarter down 71-52. With the final quarter underway, Mobile was left with a mountain to climb. Deja Pryor would make two 3-pointers in the third while Emilee Duet chipped in 5 points of her own, but it wouldn't be enough as the Rams fell at home with a final score of 89-66. Former Ram, D'Mya Ferguson, had a good game for the opposition as she played the full 40 minutes against her old team.

Jada Johnson recorded another double-double in the loss with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Deja Pryor put up 12 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Freshman guard Emilee Duet had another solid outing with 9 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Lamaria Jones led the scoring off the bench with 11 points while Jarniya Maddox had 9 rebounds and 6 points in her 20 minutes from off the bench.
