Mobile Finish as Runners Up in SSAC Volleyball Championship

Rams fall to #2 seed Loyola in championship match

MULTIPLEX at CRAMTON BOWL | MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Looking to becoming the first back-to-back SSAC champions since Blue Mountain three-peated between 2021 and 2023, the #1 seeded Rams were set to face Loyola University in the championship match. Mobile defeated Loyola twice during the regular season and beat out Loyola to the regular season championship, but the story would not end like the Rams would hope as Loyola triumphed over Mobile in 4 sets to claim their first ever SSAC Volleyball Championship. The Rams finished the tournament as runners-up for the 6th time in history and are now 3-6 overall in the SSAC Volleyball Championship Final.

The Rams struggled to get things going on offense as they never hit above .250% in any of the four sets played. Loyola would control set one as the Rams managed just 7 kills in the set, falling 15-25 in what was a sign of things to come. Set two was much better from Mobile as they collected 11 kills while limiting the errors to just 4 on their way to a 25-19 win to split the match 1-1. Despite the resurgence in set two, Mobile's offensive efficiency began to drop off again in set three as they quickly fell behind 5-10. The Wolfpack would control large sections of the remainder of set three as Mobile would go behind again with a 17-25 loss in set three. Momentum would shift further away from Mobile in set four as the opposition started off on a 13-3 run. Unfortunately, this would be a hole too deep to dig themselves out of as Mobile lost set four 25-14, giving the team from New Orleans the title of champions. The Rams close out this chapter of the 2025 season with just their third loss of the season as their overall record now sits at 29-3.

Emma Hampton had a solid outing for her side hitting at .364% for 11 kills with just 3 errors. Jaci Drinnon once again led the team with 22 digs while Jenny Cope stood tall at the net with 7 blocks. Emma McPherson and Hannah Ellis combined for 35 of Mobile's 39 assists in the loss.

Up Next for the Rams

With both the regular season and SSAC Volleyball Championship now over, Mobile will have to wait to hear more about the future of their season as they will be tuning in during the annual NAIA Selection Show held on November 17th at 4:00pm. The Selection Show can be watched live on Youtube on the official NAIA page. If Mobile's season ends here, they will finish out the 2025 season with a 29-3 record while being named the #22 team in the NAIA's final poll of the season.
