Dominant Rams Rout the Chargers

Men's basketball takes down Southeastern Baptist 117-39

PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team was back at home last night for their non-conference match against the Chargers of Southeastern Baptist. The Rams put on a showcase during the twelfth meeting all-time between the two sides as Mobile would go on to win in a blowout to move the series to 12-0 in their favor. With a busy November schedule, the men's basketball team will look to build momentum against non-conference opposition in preparation for SSAC play which will kick into full swing in January.

Through the opening 5 minutes, Mobile jumped out to a 10 point lead which they would then double just after the 10 minute mark had passed. The Chargers would hold their own and stop the Rams from growing their lead for the rest of the half as Mobile went into the halftime break up 48-26. Zion Hunter, Dayton Richardson, and Mason Sword all recorded 8 points in the first half with Sword and Richardson's contributions coming off the bench.

The second half is where the Rams began to come alive as they outscored the Chargers 69-13 in the second half including a 53-3 run in the final 15 minutes. Head Coach Darnell Archey let his bench players play a majority of the second half with Mo Kamara getting 8 points and 6 rebounds during his 12 minute second half appearance. Kareem Harris had 11 points in his 6 second half minutes. Sophmore Von Carter-Ward had 2 steals, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists during the second half.

Ultimately the Rams saw 7 players score in the double digits while almost every player who saw the court managed to get on the score sheet. The game ended in one of the most lopsided victories in Mobile Men's Basketball history while also being one of the highest scoring games in recent history. Mobile will look to use the confidence gained from this match to propel them forward against their upcoming opponents.
