Men's Basketball Tames Wildcats of Louisiana Christian

Rams continue strong start to season; move to 5-1

PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - With the Rams picking up two home wins earlier in the week against Southeastern Baptist and Stillman College, the Rams returned to the court on Saturday afternoon to take on the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian. Mobile saw 4 Rams score 10+ points and 7 players score 5+ in the victory as they claimed their fifth victory of the season in front of the home fans. The Rams closed out their first stretch of non-conference opponents as they now prepare for back-to-back conference games against UT-Southern and Blue Mountain.

For the Rams, confidence was high from the outset as Oliver Boyle and Kristiyan Vasilev combined to put Mobile up 8-0 early on. A 12-2 run for the home side midway through the first half helped push their lead out to 14 and the Rams would not lead by less than 7 points for the remainder of the first half. The first half would end with an incredible buzzer beater from Alex Hammond as he would grab the rebound from a Jarvis Moss 3-pointer miss, before pulling up from downtown. He managed to get the shot off with just 1 second left, and as the horn went off to signal halftime, the shot would rustle through the net giving the Rams a 12 point lead heading into halftime.

With momentum firmly on the side of the Rams, the second half was dominant offensive showcase as they outscored their opponents 51-26 with three players scoring 9+ in the second half. The Rams would cruise through the second half as they extended their lead before closing out the game with a 94-57 victory. Jarvis Moss put up 13 points in the half to lead the second half scoring for his side while Dayton Richardson had a game to remember as he shot lights out, scoring 16 points with a perfect shooting percentage while also grabbing 6 rebounds. Alex Hammond continued his solid start to the season with another double-double performance.
