Box Score TUSKEGEE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Tennis team, led by University of Mobile Athletics Hall of Famer Uwe Tittl, opened the 2025 season with an exciting 4-3 victory over Tuskegee University (Ala.) on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1, beginning the season with a strong win over an NCAA D-II opponent.
The Rams are now 1-0 entering the SSAC / SUN / AAC Challenge next week in Mobile, Ala.
Perez Clinches Match for Rams
Mobile secured the all-important doubles point to begin play on Saturday, with Mobile's top pair of Callum Dickson and Leon Finke winning, 6-1. Sergio Ruiz Ramiro and Santiago Reina followed with a 6-1 from the second-seeded doubles match, while Enrico Recchia and Luis Perez earned a tiebreaker win in the third flight.
In singles play, Mobile saw losses across the first two seeds and the sixth seed, but claimed victories across the third, fourth, and fifth flights of the lineup to secure the overall match win. Ruiz Ramiro earned a strong 6-3, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles, while Youssef Fazazi managed a 6-0, 6-2 victory from No. 5 singles. Coming down to the fourth-seeded singles match, Luis Perez gave the Rams the win after earning a 6-3, 6-0 win in his respective match.
Big Tournament Ahead
Mobile is set for three matches next week for the first-ever SSAC / SUN / AAC Challenge. The Rams begin the tournament with a non-conference match against Ave Maria (Fla.) on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 9:00 a.m. CT, while facing SCAD-Atlanta (Ga.) and Reinhardt (Ga.) later that weekend.
