H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - In a hard-fought battle in Pharr Gymnasium, the University of Mobile Women's Basketball team suffered a heartbreaking 68-66 overtime loss to Blue Mountain Christian on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 8, dropping just the fifth game during the 2024-25 season. Despite a strong second-half surge and a clutch three-pointer at the buzzer, Mobile couldn't hold on in the extra period, dropping to 19-5 overall and 10-3 in conference play.
A Tale of Two Halves
The game started as a defensive struggle, with Mobile managing only six points in the second quarter, heading into halftime trailing 31-19. However, the Rams stormed back in the third quarter, outscoring Blue Mountain Christian 22-15 behind the stellar play of Alanna Donaldson and Braylee McMath. After an 18-point fourth quarter and a clutch three-pointer by Donaldson that pushed the game into overtime, Mobile struggled to generate offense in the final five minutes, scoring only seven points. Blue Mountain Christian capitalized on key defensive stops and efficient free-throw shooting to secure the narrow upset victory.
Donaldson led Mobile with a game-high 24 points, adding four assists and two steals, while shooting 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. The performance marks the fifth-straight game where Donaldson has scored at least 20 points. Braylee McMath contributed 19 points, including three three-pointers, while MacKenzie White secured a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, finishing just three points shy of joining the 1,000-point club for her collegiate career.
As a team, the Rams shot just 33%, while Blue Mountain managed a 41% shooting performance.
