TIFTON, Ga - For the first time in history, the University of Mobile Rams Baseball program faced off against the Stallions of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC). Unfortunately for the Rams, history will not view this initial meeting in a positive light for them, having been swept by the Stallions in the three game series. Mobile find themselves with a (10-10) record overall following the series with a (2-4) record in conference play.
Game One – Mobile 4, ABAC 5
Mobile opened the series with a hard-fought 5-4 loss to ABAC. The Rams jumped ahead early, scoring in the first and third innings, but the Stallions responded with a pair of late runs to edge out the victory. Cameron Brock led things on the offensive side, going 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Sam Bowman added an RBI single. On the mound, Trey Watson kept the Rams in the game, striking out eight batters over 6 innings of work.
Game Two – Mobile 1, ABAC 4
In game 2 both sides found themselves in the midst of a pitching duel, but Mobile couldn't break through on offense in the 4-1 loss. The Rams managed seven hits, with Breyton Cornelius providing the lone run after drawing a walk and stealing a base before coming around to score. Andin Bolen was credited with the loss after throwing 5 & 2/3 innings.
Game Three – Mobile 12, ABAC 15
The final game turned into an offensive showdown, with Mobile falling 15-12 despite a season-best 15-hit performance. Zion Taylor added on to the fantastic week that he has been having, going 4-for-4 with two home runs, three RBIs, and four runs scored. Peyton Bell also contributed with a two-run single, while Sam Bowman chipped in with a 2-for-5 effort, including an RBI single to right field. Despite their best efforts on offense, Mobile's pitching staff struggled to contain ABAC's lineup, leading to the series sweep.
On Deck for Mobile
Mobile will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they face non-conference opponents Talladega College in a doubleheader series at Mike Jacobs Field on Tuesday, March 4th, at 1:00pm CT. Starting with that series, Mobile begins an extended home stretch in the schedule where they will also face Brewton-Parker College, Tuskegee University, and Loyola University (La.) at home.
