Tennis Splits with Wildcats of Bethel

Women Pick up a Big Win Over #21; Men Narrowly Lose

GERALD L. WALLACE TENNIS CENTER | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's and Women's Tennis teams were back at home for the second day in a row as they took on Bethel University out of Tennessee. The women's team would walk away with a decisive 6-1 victory while the men's team was narrowly beat out losing 3-4.

Women's Match Recap

With their victory, women's tennis improves to 5-3 on the year having now won five straight matches. The doubles point would go to Mobile with the #3 seed pairing of Camila Castro/Sara Parpinel winning 7-5 while the #2 seed of Caroline Johnson/Katharina Bopst would earn the point winning 6-0.

In singles play, Karolina Mrowiecova won the #1 seed in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Parpinel won the #4 seed 6-1, 6-4. Rachel McMullan had a good performance from the #6 seed winning her match 7-5, 6-1. The overall match would be won however by Bopst as she would go on towin from the #3 seed 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. Bethel would win the #2 seed 7-6, 6-0 and the #5 seed 6-2, 6-1.

Men's Match Recap

The men's team falls to 4-3 this season following the loss to Bethel. Mobile would claim the doubles point with Juan Arias and Luis Perez winning the #2 seed 6-4 while Santiago Reina and Sergio Ruiz Ramiro won the #3 seed 7-5.

Despite winning the doubles point, the Rams could not secure the win in singles play. Mobile's only points from these matches came from the #5 and #6 seeds with Callum Dickson winning 6-0, 6-0 and Luis Perez winning 6-4, 5-7 respectively. Bethel would pick up the 4 points necessary to win in the 1-4 seeds to take home the victory over Mobile.

Up Next for the Rams


Both Mobile tennis teams are scheduled to be back in action on Friday, March 14th in Montgomery, Alabama as they are set to take on the Knights of Middle Georgia State in what will be the first SSAC action of the season for the Mobile teams.
