BLUE MOUNTAIN, Ms. - The University of Mobile Baseball team picked up a vital 3 wins against Blue Mountain College this weekend with the series sweep pushing Mobile's record to 25-18. In Conference, the Rams now sit at 12-12 in a tie for 5th place in the SSAC standings with Middle Georgia State. The Rams hit the ball well during the weekend and outscored the Toppers 27-13 in the series. The Rams are nearing the end of the regular season with just six games left on the schedule in regular season.
Game One - Mobile 12, Blue Mountain 2
Blue Mountain would lead off the scoring in game one behind an RBI single to left field in the first inning. Mobile would take the lead in the third with 3 runs coming home to make it 3-1. The Rams would add on another 9 runs in the remaining innings to take game one 12-2 over the Toppers. Trey Watson went the full seven innings for Mobile, picking up the win in the contest. Sam Bowman ended the game with 4 hits and 2 runs while Trey Simpkins had 2 hits, 1 run and 4 RBIs.Â
Game Two - Mobile 5, Blue Mountain 2
Game two saw Mobile's bats cool off from game one with the team only managing 7 hits in the game. The Toppers would take a 2-0 lead into the 8th inning before Mobile managed to tie the game with an RBI single and an RBI double. With the game tied in the ninth inning, Mobile would bring home 3 more runs on bases loaded walks to take a 5-2 lead and see out the rest of the game to victory. Landon Moore got the start for the Rams but it was Breyton Cornelius who would pick up the win from the mound having come in during the 9th inning and closed out the game. Cameron Brock finished the game with 1 run and 3 hits while Jaron Harris and Sam Bowman both would end the game with 1 hit and 2 RBIs each.
Game Three - Mobile 10, Blue Mountain 9
For game three of the series, Blue Mountain would not go down without a fight as the two teams were neck and neck throughout the contest. Mobile's largest lead of the game came in the third inning with a 4 run advantage. The Toppers would tie it up at 9-9 in the bottom of the eight inning having closed the gap on Mobile's lead. With the game tied in the ninth inning, the Rams would find their final push through the Toppers defense with Cameron Brock hitting a single through the right side which brought home Bryce Eddington from second. Peyton Bell would get the win for Mobile having pitched two innings and striking out three batters. Bryce Eddington and Cameron Brock would both have 3 RBIs in the match.
Up Next for the Rams
For Mobile, their next series comes against Middle Georgia State this weekend, April 18-19, at Mike Jacobs Field for the final home series of the 2025 season. The Rams will celebrate Senior Day during the series on April 19th with 13 Seniors from the UM Baseball program being recognized.
