Baseball Gets Senior Day Win Against Middle Georgia State

Rams Drop Series 1-2 Against the Knights

MIKE JACOBS FIELD | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Baseball team faced off against Middle Georgia in the regular season for the final time this past weekend with the Knights set to change divisions next year. In the three game home series, Mobile would drop both games on Friday before coming back on Saturday to get a win on senior day.

Game One - Mobile 7, Middle Georgia 12

Mobile got things started early in game one, jumping out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the third inning. However, that lead would not last for the Rams as the Knights piled on 11 runs in the next three innings to take an 11-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Mobile would 3 runs back with Sam Bowman earning a bases loaded walk before Jaron Harris hit a single that saw both Zion Taylor and Cameron Brock come home to score. Mobile would drop game one 7-12 with Breyton Cornelius picking up the loss from the mound.

Game Two - Mobile 9, Middle Georgia 16

Game two saw two teams that both registered numerous hits in the contest, but it was Mobile would could not create the runs to equal those hits. Mobile would take a 3-1 lead in the first after Cameron Brock singled to center field to bring home Peyton Bell before Jaron Harris homered to bring home Brock. Middle Georgia would take a 3-7 lead in the third before the Rams pulled back 3 runs to make it 6-7. In the fourth inning, with the score 6-9, Mobile put together another 3 runs with Brock hitting a single to right center, Zion Taylor doubling down the right field line with Harris following it up with another double to right field. The scoring would end there for the Rams with the Knights pushing across another 7 runs to inflict the Rams second loss of the series with a score of 9-16. Alexis Rodriguez was hit with the loss from the mound moving his record to 0-6-0 on the season.

Game Three - Mobile 7, Middle Georgia 6

The Rams, set to host Senior Day at Jacobs Field, headed into the final game of their last home series this season needing a win to prevent Middle Georgia from sweeping the series. A day full of celebrations would be made that much more special with the Rams running out as winners with a walk-off single through the left side that saw two Rams score with an error assisting in one of those runs. Sam Bowman got things started off with a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Cameron Brock to run home and score. Brock would follow that up in the third inning with a double to right field that brought home Peyton Bell. Brock came home to score right after that with Zion Taylor hitting a single to right field. The third inning scoring would be rounded out by Bryce Eddington who singled to second base allowing Taylor to run home and make it 4-0. Middle Georgia proceeded to go on a run in the next four innings, taking a 4-6 lead over Mobile with just two innings remaining. Mobile got 1 run back in the eighth inning to make it 5-6, but it would have to wait until the ninth inning for things to swing Mobile's way. The hero for the Rams would be Kline Smith as he hit a single through the left side with the bases loaded to score Wil King and Jaron Harris who was assisted by an error by the left fielder. Peyton Bell was credited with the win for Mobile as he came in to pitch late in the game.
