Mobile Opens 2025 Season with 2-0 Win at LSUA

Ryan and Borges provide goals as Rams start year with a win

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The University of Mobile women's soccer team kicked off its 2025 season with a 2-0 victory over LSU Alexandria on Saturday morning. The win marked the Rams' first official action of the year after their scheduled opener against Louisiana Christian was canceled.

Game Recap: Mobile 2, LSU Alexandria 0

The Rams came into the match hoping to take a win in their first match of the year against an LSU Alexandria team that, just two days prior, had suffered a 7-0 defeat to open their season. Mobile controlled the tempo for most of the first half, leading in both shots and corners taken. In the 35th minute, the match further shifted in Mobile's favor when LSUA went down to 10 players following a red card.

Having gone into halftime in a scoreless draw, Mobile came out looking to take advantage of the extra player. In the 54th minute, they did exactly that when Bailey Bronner swung in a dangerous free kick from the left side of the Generals' defensive area. The ball fell to Becca Ryan, who reacted quickly and hammered home the finish to put Mobile up 1-0 with the team's first goal of the season.

The remainder of the second half would see LSUA try to work their way back into the game, with the Generals taking more shots at goal than the Rams in the second half, but Mobile would put the nail in the coffin to seal the game in the final minute. Freshman Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez would find some open space behind the LSUA defense and provided her first assist as a Ram, slipping a ball across the box to Evellyn Borges, who calmly converted her first Mobile goal to secure the win with a 2-0 result.

With the clean sheet, the Rams start the season 1-0-0 while LSU Alexandria falls to 0-2-0.
