Mobile Defeats Ave Maria 3-0 in Labor Day Tournament Match

Borges Scores Twice as Rams Improve to 2-1

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The University of Mobile women's soccer team earned its second victory of the season on Saturday, August 30, with a 3-0 win over Ave Maria University in the Labor Day Tournament hosted by Thomas University. With the result, the Rams improve to 2-1-0 on the year.

The Rams opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Ariana Taylor found the back of the net, finishing a setup from Kaithlyn Chavez to put Mobile in front 1-0.


In the second half, Mobile doubled its advantage as Evellyn Borges struck in the 59th minute off an assist from Natalie Burt. Borges then sealed the victory in the 70th minute, calmly converting a penalty kick into the right side of the net to secure her brace and the Rams' 3-0 win.


Defensively, goalkeeper Sarah Polk and the Mobile back line kept Ave Maria off the scoresheet, recording the team's second shutout in three matches this season.


Up Next for the Rams


Mobile continues play in the Labor Day Tournament on Monday, September 1, with a 10:00 a.m. CT match against New College of Florida.
