Volleyball Loses 5 Set Match Against BMCU

Rams drop to 12-2 on the season, 4-2 in conference play

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The University of Mobile volleyball team suffered a hard fought, five set loss to the Toppers of Blue Mountain on Saturday afternoon. The loss is Mobile's second of the season as the Rams are now 12-2 overall with a 4-2 record in conference play.

The Rams struggled to hit consistently during the match with a hitting percentage of just .079 overall. As a team, Mobile had 44 kills and an unfortunately high 30 errors. In spite of the loss, the Rams were dominant with blocks, totaling 12 blocks as a team in the match compared to their opponents total of 4. 

Corrina Porch-Maxey led the Rams with 11 kills, followed by Peyton Frazer with 10, and Jenny Cope with 9. Emma McPherson totaled 15 assists and 10 digs for a double-double, while Hannah Ellis led the team with 17 assists. Jaci Drinnon led the way with 30 digs, her 3rd highest dig count in a match this season. Emily Osborne had 3 solo blocks and 2 block assists with Jenny Cope chipping in with 2 solo blocks and 5 block assists.

Mobile will walk away from the match knowing that it is one they could have won. Similar to Mobile, Blue Mountain also had a less than ideal hitting percentage of just .103. The Rams will get their chance to return the favor to the Toppers at home, in the Rams' final regular season game, on November 8th at 12:00pm CT in the Pharr Gymnasium.

Up Next for the Rams

For Mobile, they will return home for their next match as the face Point University on September 27th at 11:00am, before a quick turnaround to face Xavier University later that afternoon at 3:00pm.
